John graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration and received additional certifications from AICPA as a Personal Financial Advisor and from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors as a Certified Senior Advisor. The qualification of Certified Senior Advisor from the Society of Certified Seniors Advisors is training chosen by a few CPAs which focuses on gaining a better understanding of the needs and issues facing seniors in today's changing society. Both the PFS and CSA qualifications required extensive training including classroom work and special training. He continues to maintain a current proficiency with the Internal Revenue Code through regular continuing education and extensive personal study.

Since establishing Bullis and Company, CPAs, Ltd. in 1965, John has served his clients as a fee-only, independent advisor without the conflicts of interest that commissions can create. He specializes in tax, financial and estate and gift tax planning along with the preparation of personal and corporate income tax returns.

Over the years he has served the community as Special Master appointed by Nevada District Judges, on the American Arbitration Association and supervisor of an audit of the Nevada Bicentennial Commission. Within the firm he has worked with clients to prepare corporation financial statements, resolve IRS notices and reduce penalties and assisted with valuations of both business and ranch operations.
